On 22 September 2025, CSV Bartringen held an open workshop for the residents of the Helfent district. The aim was to give residents the opportunity to share their ideas, concerns, and expectations regarding the development of their neighbourhood. The meeting generated great interest, with many citizens taking part. Others also shared their suggestions with us, either orally or in writing.

A Wide Range of Topics – From Traffic to Community Life

Discussions showed that Helfent residents attach great importance to a safe, pleasant and sustainable environment. The most frequently mentioned issues included:

  • Traffic & Mobility: demand for safer walking and cycling paths, better lighting, and clearer traffic regulations.
  • Quality of Life & Environment: enhancement of Parc Helfent with more benches, covered areas, improved maintenance and possibly a small café or kiosk.
  • Social Cohesion: wish for more meeting places and joint activities across generations.
  • Accessibility: improvements to pavements, crossings and bus stops to make movement easier for elderly or mobility-impaired people.
  • Communication & Citizen Participation: greater transparency on local projects and easier ways for residents to express their ideas.

Concerns and Concrete Proposals

Participants also voiced dissatisfaction with the maintenance of certain public and communal facilities – especially the Lentze Parc building and green spaces.
Specific proposals included:

  • expanding and better equipping Parc Helfent,
  • creating a dog park and wildflower meadow,
  • introducing a direct bus connection to the CHL hospital,
  • extending the “Ruffbus” service to Sundays,
  • and improving drainage systems to prevent flooding during heavy rain.

General Satisfaction Despite Need for Improvements

Despite some criticism, many participants said they enjoy living in Helfent.
They particularly value the peaceful, green surroundings, the proximity to City Concorde, and the good public transport connections.
The citizens’ forum confirmed that Helfent is considered a pleasant place to live – with untapped potential for more community life and inclusion.

Next Steps

The results of the citizens’ forum have been compiled into a memorandum submitted to the Municipal Council.
CSV Bartringen now intends to incorporate the key topics into its political work and to promote concrete measures to improve living conditions in Helfent.
