It took more than two years. There was a joint motion by the opposition, concerns, follow-up questions, consultations, an expert opinion, proposals for the internal regulations, final discussions, and ultimately a consensual solution. At the meeting of 28 November 2025, the municipal council made several decisions to improve its information policy. There will be no live streaming, but instead a recording that will be put online on the first working day after the meeting and divided into sections. Interested individuals will thus be able to access the entire public meeting or selected parts of it. They can obtain information through video and audio at a time of their own choosing. However, since not all citizens, for various reasons, can follow a stream – let alone a meeting held in Luxembourgish – the traditional report (with a summary of the various interventions) will continue to be published in the municipal bulletin and made available in several languages in digital form on the municipality’s website.
As the CSV, we were guided throughout this lengthy process of self-examination within the municipal council by the following goals: greater transparency and participation of everyone in the political reflection process. Politics, including party politics, must be made accessible to people, explained, understandable, and must enable the participation of all citizens. From the outset, we did not wish to give up anything that already worked in an exemplary manner, but rather sought to optimise what was already in place.
With the meeting of 11 December, which will focus on the budget debate, our municipality will thus join those that have long since embarked on the path of more extensive democratic information suited to our digital age.
